Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking an Everglades tour.

Booking and Tickets

How do I receive my tickets?

After you pay, you get a 'payment received' email straight away. Your e-ticket follows in a separate email once the operator has issued it, usually within a few hours.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your tour for a full refund. Use the Manage booking page or email us with your booking reference.

Will I see alligators?

Alligators and wading birds are commonly seen, but wildlife is wild: sightings depend on the season, weather and time of day and can't be guaranteed.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, insect repellent and water. Airboats are loud, so ear protection is usually provided on board.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Most airboat tours welcome children from age 3. Check each tour's guest types before booking.

What is Ticket Assurance?

An optional add-on at checkout for $5.93 per guest. It lets you claim a refund or move your booking to another date if your plans change. See our refund policy for the full terms.

What is the best time of year to visit the Everglades?

The dry season, December to April, is the most popular: it's cooler, there are fewer mosquitoes and wildlife gathers around the remaining water, so it's easier to spot. The wet season, May to November, is greener and quieter, with short afternoon thunderstorms.

What time of day is best for an airboat tour?

Mornings are cooler and wildlife is often more active, while late afternoons bring softer light for photos. In summer, morning departures also help you avoid afternoon storms.

How long does an Everglades airboat ride last?

Most airboat rides last 30 to 60 minutes. Tours with transportation from Miami or Fort Lauderdale take about 4 to 6 hours in total. Each tour page shows its duration.

How far is the Everglades from Miami?

Most airboat parks are about 45 to 60 minutes' drive west of Miami. Everglades City is about 1.5 hours away.

Will I get wet on an airboat?

You may feel a little spray, but you usually stay mostly dry. Bring a light layer for the wind and keep phones and cameras secure.

Are airboat tours loud?

Yes, airboats are powered by large fans. Ear protection is usually provided on board, and captains stop the engine to talk about the wildlife.

Do tours run in the rain?

Most tours run rain or shine, but airboats stop during thunder or lightning. If the operator cancels for weather, we'll help you reschedule or arrange a refund.

Should I tip my captain or guide?

Tips aren't included and are at your discretion, but they are customary in Florida if you enjoyed your tour.

Are airboat tours suitable for everyone?

Most travelers can join. Airboat rides can be bumpy, so they aren't recommended for pregnant travelers or people with back or heart problems. Check each tour's important information before booking.
